ODESSA, Texas– The Belhaven University women's basketball team faltered late in the fourth quarter against Sul Ross State University by a score of 78-73 on Thursday afternoon in ASC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Lauren Brooks scored an early bucket to give the Blazers the quick 2-0 lead.
- The Green and Gold found themselves ahead of the Lobos by a score of 7-6 midway through the first period.
- For the next three minutes, both teams exchanged baskets but the Blazers had the 12-11 advantage with 1:47 remaining in the first quarter.

Brittany Ford made three straight three-pointers to close out the first period to give Belhaven the 21-13 lead going into the second frame.
- The Blazers shot lights out to open the second quarter and extended their lead by 11 with 6:19 remaining until the break.
- The Lobos rallied back to cut the lead to 37-32 with 58 seconds left until halftime.
- After a layup by
Shanda Pugh and a three-pointer by
AaLiyaha Thornton, Belhaven took the 42-32 lead into intermission.
- The Blazers held on to their 10 point lead at the midpoint of the third quarter to make the score 53-43 with 4:58 left in the third period.
- In the next five minutes of the third quarter, the Lobos closed the gap to six points heading into the final frame.

Lauren Brooks had the first two buckets for the Green and Gold in the fourth quarter to bring the score to 63-57.
- The Lobos went on a 10-5 run to tie the ballgame up at 67 with 2:46 left in the contest.
- Sul Ross took the lead after a three-pointer by Angalyn Latin to gain the 70-67 advantage.
- Belhaven could not overcome the deficit and would ultimately fall late by a score of 78-73.
