JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven University men's basketball team fell to the Sewanee Tigers by a final score of 74-57 on Saturday afternoon inside of Rugg Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The majority of the first half was played within a one-possession lead for either team, as neither the Blazers nor there Tigers could distance themselves from the other. 
- The largest lead, until the very end of the half, came when Belhaven's John Works scored on a lay-up in the paint to give Belhaven a 20-17 advantage. 
- The Tigers and Blazers exchanged leads over the final minutes of the first half before the Tigers' Luke Smith drilled a 3 pointer to give Sewanee the largest lead of the half, 35-29 with 14-seconds left until the break.
- A Brosnan Cooks jumper before time expired, cut the lead to 35-31. Belhaven trailed by this score at the half.
- Brosnan Cooks helped Belhaven get within a 35-33 score after Cooks scored on a layup within the first minute on the second half.
- However, the Tigers began to pull away, scoring points on multiple possessions in a row and holding the Blazers offense in check. Midway through the second half, the Tigers held a 53-43 lead. 
- Sewanne went on the defeat Belhaven by a final score of 74-57, as Belhaven fell to 1-2 overall on the season.

KEY STATISTICS
- Rick Hodum finished with 11 points in the contest which was good enough to lead all Blazers in the game.
- Justin Jones, Brosnan Cooks, and Jonathan Durham each added 8-points. Cooks had a team high five rebounds as Jones led Belhaven with 4 assists.
- Belhaven was 19-45 from the field and finished with 26 points in the paint as a team.

Belhaven will head to Abilene, Texas on Thursday, November 29, to face off against ASC opponent McMurry to begin conference play. The game will tip-off beginning at 7:30 p.m.
