JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven University women's basketball team suffered a 83-72 defeat against Millsaps College in non-conference action on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Majors scored the first bucket on the opening drive of the game to take a quick 2-0 lead.
- Belhaven tied the ball game up after
Lauren Brooks made a layup in the midst of being fouled. Brooks made the free throw to take a 3-2 advantage early in the contest.
- Buckets were made back and forth for the next few possessions until Millsaps went cold from the paint and behind the arc.
- The Blazers caught an offensive spark and went on a 12-3 run, bringing the score to 20-7 in Belhaven's favor with 3:15 left in the first quarter.
- Belhaven closed out the first quarter with a 23-15 lead.

India Sims made a layup to open the second quarter to push the Blazers lead to 10 points.
- The Majors narrowed the lead to six points midway through the second period.
- For the rest of the second quarter,
Brittany Ford had two buckets from behind the arc to go into the break holding on to a 38-26 lead.
- Millsaps closed the gap to six points three minutes into the third period to make the score 40-34.
- Over the next two minutes of action, the Green and Gold extended the lead to 12 points making the score 50-38.
- The Majors finished the third quarter going on a 9-6 run, but the Blazers still had the 56-47 advantage.

Peyton Papenburg had the first four points for Belhaven to bring the score to 60-49 with 6:53 left in regulation.
- After a layup from Dia Fortenberry, the Majors narrowed the lead to just four points.
- The Blazers went on a 7-3 run over the next couple of possessions to make the score 67-57.
- Millsaps caught an offensive spark in the ladder part of the fourth quarter and tied up the ballgame at 68 a piece to force an overtime period.
- The Majors carried their momentum into overtime downing the Blazers by a score of 83-72.

Peyton Papenburg led the offensive charge for the Blazers with 17 points. Additionally, she had three steals, three assists, and three rebounds.

Lauren Brooks finished the night one rebound short of a double-double. Brooks had 16 points with nine rebounds and two steals.

AaLiyaha Thornton posted 10 points and seven rebounds, while
Brittany Ford put up nine points all that came from three-pointers.
- As a team, the Blazers 35.8 percent from the field and 32.1 percent from behind the arc.
- The Green and Gold were 53.6 percent from the charity stripe during the contest.
