St. Louis, Mo. – The Belhaven University women's basketball team fell in their second game of the 2018 season on the road at Webster University on Friday evening in non-conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the opening period, neither team led more than five points for the duration of the first quarter.
- Both teams exchanged baskets, but Belhaven had the slight 21-19 advantage over Webster to end the first quarter.

Destiny Johnson opened up the scoring in the second quarter, after a made layup to make the score 24-19.
- Webster pushed back and took a 26-25 lead over the Blazers, but a made free throw by
Lauren Brooks even the score at 26.
- An 11-3 run by Webster pushed the Gorloks ahead by a score of 37-29 to go into the halftime break.

Peyton Papenburg opened the scoring for the second half to close the gap to only six.
- The Gorloks caught an offensive spark making the score 52-35 with 4:10 left in the third quarter.
- Webster went on an 8-6 run to close out the third quarter to bring the score to 60-41 heading into the fourth quarter.
- The Gorloks led by as many as 26 points in the fourth quarter, but the Blazers did not go down without a fight chipping the lead down to 19 with just under two minutes left in the game.
- Belhaven could not find a basket in the last two minutes of the game, making the final score 79-58 with Webster coming out on top.

KEY STATISTICS

Brittany Ford led the Blazers with 13 points and shot 55.5 percent from the field. Additionally, she tallied two rebounds and made the only two baskets from behind the arc.

AaLiyaha Thornton was the other player for Belhaven to score in the double-digits. The senior also posted a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe, grabbed five rebounds, and had the team-high four assists.

Lauren Brooks put up nine points, while
Peyton Papenburg earned eight points. Papenburg also tied the team-high in rounds with five.
- There were nine different Blazers to contribute on the offensive side of the ball.
- As a team, the Blazers had 22 second chance points and 18 points came from the bench.
