Volleyball Bounces Back With 3-0 Sweep at LeTourneau

LONGVIEW, Texas.– The Belhaven University volleyball team swept the LeTourneau University Yellow Jackets in three straight sets on the road in American Southwest Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- For the majority of the first set both teams battled back and forth with the score tied 18-18.

- Blazers won the next six out of seven points to take the 24-19 lead over the yellow jackets.

- Emily Carroll finished up the set with a kill to claim the first set 25-22.

- After starting the second set tied 2-2, the Blazers ripped off nine straight points to take a commanding 11-2 lead in the second set.

- The Blazers dominated the rest of the way winning 25-17 in the second set taking a 2-0 set lead.

- In the third and final set, the Blazers faced a tougher challenge falling behind 23-22 toward the end of the third set.

- Belhaven rallied back to take the 25-24 lead after Lauren Whiting with two kills.

- With the help of an attacking error, the Blazers clinched the set and claimed the 3-0 series sweep.

KEY STATISTICS

 - Ryan Hardin finished with a season high 14 kills in the match.

- Sydney McEachern finished the contest with 20 digs.

- Lauren Whiting registered a team high of four service aces. Additionally, Whiting notched eight kills, seven digs and two block assists.

- Meghan Luker had 17 assists, three service aces and seven digs.

- Megan Nobles tabbed nine digs.

- Callista Moore had a team high of four block assists and four kills. 

- The Blazers finished the match with 36 kills, 11 service aces and 14 block assists.

UP NEXT

The Blazers will compete in the second ASC Crossover in Richardson, Texas on Friday, October 12. First serve is set for 3:00 p.m. against Hardin-Simmons.
