JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven University volleyball team fell to the UT Dallas Comets by a final score of 3-1 in ASC play Saturday afternoon inside of Rugg Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets looked to be in control from the beginning of the first set, quickly jumping out to a 4-1 lead. Belhaven roared back with six straight points to take an 8-4 lead.
- Both teams exchanged leads midway through set one before the Green and Gold were able to gain momentum and close out the set with a 25-23 set victory with the help of a kill from Carissa Pauda.
- UTD did not waste any time in the second set, starting off with a 9-1 advantage.
- The Comets cruised on a 16-9 run to claim the second set and tie the match up at 1-1.
- Like the previous set, UTD managed to gain control from the beginning, comfortably jumping to a 9-2 lead.
- Belhaven rallied off four straight points to pull within 9-6. The game remained tight as Belhaven trailed 15-13 and again by three, 21-18, near the end of the set before the Comets closed with four straight points to win 25-18.
- Belhaven and the Comets were neck and neck early in set four with UTD leading 8-5.
- Near the end of the set, Belhaven was behind 19-16 with a chance to make things interesting in the fourth set. However, the Comets gained a 6-4 advantage in the final few points, winning the set 25-20 and taking the overall match 3-1.

KEY STATISTICS
- As a team, the Blazers had 35 kills, 64 digs, 35 assists, and a total of 38.0 points.
- Lauren Whiting set the pace for the Blazers with team highs in kills (9) aces (1) blocks (1). Additionally, Whiting added 12 digs behind Sydney McEachern, who led the Green and Gold with 20.
- Grace Eidson led Belhaven with 12 assists followed by Meghan Luker 10 assists.
- Carissa Pauda had 22 total attacks, including 8 kills, 1 assist, one block assist, and two digs.
- Ryan Hardin and Jackie Fredericks each had a total of five kills in the contest.
