JACKSON, Miss - The Belhaven University football team suffered a 49-0 defeat to the #2 Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders Saturday morning in the Belhaven Bowl Stadium.
With the loss, the Blazers slip to 1-6 overall and 1-5 in ASC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first quarter of action, UMHB used a five play thirty-six yard drive which was capped off by a 12-yard run from Markeith Miller to take a quick 7-0 lead over Belhaven.
- Belhaven's defense stepped up throughout the first quarter, forcing several punts and only allowing the lone touchdown at the end of one quarter.
- The Cru began to show why they were the No. 2 ranked team in all of Division III football in the second quarter, putting together two scoring drives that totaled 21 plays for 135 yards, while eating up 11:14 minutes on the clock.
- The Green and Gold trailed the Cru 21-0 at the half.
- Two minutes into the second half, UMHB extended its lead with a 60-yard punt return touchdown from Aaron Simms to take a 28-0 lead.
- A one yard rushing touchdown from Markeith Miller, which was set up previously from a 21-yard rush from Miller, gave the Cru a 35-0 lead with 7:59 remaining in the third quarter.
- UMHB used a blocked kick that resulted in a 40-yard return from Keith Gibson to go ahead 42-0. Moments later the Cru punched another score in from one yard out to take a 49-0 lead.
- Despite a tough effort by the Blazers, they held the Cru to season lows in just about every category in the books. Ultimately the Blazers fell to a nationally ranked UMHB team, 49-0.

- Hunter McEachern completed 8-14 passes for 48 yards through the air.
- McEachern leading receiver for the contest was Fabien Williams who had one reception for 22-yards.
