JACKSON, Miss – The Belhaven University volleyball team fell to the Louisiana College Wildcats on Senior Night by a final score of 3-1 in American Southwest Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Louisiana College jumped out to a quick 8-1 advantage in the first set.
- Unable to make up much ground, the Blazers fell behind 22-10 at the end of the set, eventually falling 25-14.
- Behind 1-0 in the match, Belhaven erased an eleven point first set defeat rather quickly, as the green and gold took control of the second set with a quick 8-4 lead.
- However, LC used a 6-2 run to tie the set up at 10-10 to regain momentum lost from set one.
-The Wildcats jumped to a 19-12 advantage before Belhaven was able to use 11-4 run of its own to tie the set up at 23-23.
- Louisiana College secured the final two points with consecutive kills to take the set 25-23 and take a 2-0 lead in the overall match.
- Belhaven and Louisiana College looked poised for a close third set as LC led 7-6 early, yet Belhaven went on a 14-4 run to go ahead 20-11.
- The Green and Gold closed the third set with kills from Emily Carroll and Lauren Whiting to hand LC a 25-13 loss in set three.
- Belhaven trailed 2-1 headed into set four of the match.
- The match looked headed towards a fifth and final set to decide the victor as Belhaven quickly jumped out to a commanding 12-4 lead. Yet, a 7-1 run from LC pulled the set with a 13-11 Blazer lead.
- Belhaven once again gained some separation as the green and gold took a 20-14 advantage, before LC was able to use a 7-0 run to tie and eventually take a one point, 21-20 lead.
- The Wildcats won four of the final seven points to take a 25-23 set victory and win the overall match, 3-1.

KEY STATISTICS
- Seniors Lauren Whiting and Ryan Hardin led the Blazers with eleven and nine kills, respectively.
- Emily Carroll finished with nine kills and two blocks.
- Jackie Fredericks and Callista Moore reached registered three total blocks.
- Meghan Luker led Belhaven with seventeen assists. She was followed by Grace Eidson who collected fifteen assists in the contest.
- Sydney McEachern ended with a team high twenty-five digs while seniors Lauren Whiting and Vickey Vi had seven and five digs in the match.
- The Blazers finished the match with 42 kills, 4 service aces, and 7 blocks.

The Blazers will return to Rugg Arena on Friday, October 19, to square off against the University of Texas at Tyler. First Serve is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
