GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Belhaven University football team got an 89-yard touchdown reception from Hunter McEachern to Jacob McNeill and a 39-yard field goal from Ryan Lindsey in the contest against the Southwestern Pirates, yet the scores were not enough to overcome the Southwestern Pirates as the green and gold fell by a final of 21-10 in ASC play Saturday evening.

With the loss, the Blazers slip to 1-5 overall and 1-4 in ASC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Southwestern answered first with a seven play, sixty-three-yard scoring drive on the opening possession of the game. 

- The Pirates capped off their first drive with a four-yard rushing touchdown to take a quick 7-0 lead.

- The Blazers defense stepped up for the remaining part of the first half, as the defense yielded no more points in the first and second quarters combined.

- With 7:43 remaining in the first half, the Blazers used a Ryan Lindsey 39-yard field goal to get their first points on the board to cut the Pirate lead to 7-3.

- At the end of the first half of play, Belhaven trailed the Pirates by a deficit of just four points, 7-3.

- Up 7-3, the Pirates struck again just five minutes into the third quarter with a quick three play, a ninety-yard drive that was finished off with a one-yard rushing touchdown to give the Pirates a 14-3 lead.

- Belhaven answered late into the third quarter after quarterback Hunter McEachern found wide receiver Jacob McNeill for an 89-yard touchdown reception to cut the lead to 14-10.

- Despite pulling within one touchdown, the Blazers surrendered one more touchdown to the pirates to fall behind two touchdowns, 21-10.

- Belhaven could not put together another scoring drive in the contest as the Blazers fell by a final score of 21-10 to the Pirates to fall to 1-5 overall and 1-4 in ASC play.

- Hunter McEachern completed 9-17 passes for 227 yards, including an 89-yard touchdown strike to Jacob McNeill.

- Jacob McNeill led Belhaven in receiving with two receptions for 104 yards receiving and an 89-yard touchdown reception.

- Joey Walden and Noah Nix each had a reception of over forty yards. Walden finished with two receptions for 65 yards while Nix had one reception for 45 yards.

- Kicker, Ryan Lindsey connected on a 39-yard field goal to put the Blazers on the board in the first half.
