Blazers Struggle In First Conference Road Game

AUSTIN, Texas. - The Belhaven University men's basketball team fell to Concordia University on Thursday night by a score of 109-66 in ASC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Belhaven fell behind from the beginning after Concordia jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead.

- The Blazers would get on the board with a free throw from Kyle Patterson Sr. before Concordia once again would go on another big run to extend their lead to 18-1. Rick Hodum would hit the first three pointer and field goal of the game for the Blazers.

- Belhaven struggled to stop Concordia in the first half as the Tornadoes would eventually take a 57-28 into the break.

- In the second half, Concordia continued to build on its first half momentum reaching their largest lead of the night, 98-50, with 5:19 remaining in the contest. 

- Belhaven never led on the night, as the Tornadoes would go on to win by a final score of 109-66.

KEY STATISTICS

- Tommy McCoy ended the night with 13 points and tied for a team high 7 rebounds along with Terik Richardson.

- Rick Hodum notched a team high 14 points and finished 2-3 from three point range.

- Victor Price added 9 points on the night off the bench for the green and gold.

- As a team, the Blazers finished with 33 defensive rebounds on the night.

- Belhaven had 42 points off of the bench and 11 points off of turnovers.

- The green and gold shot 37 percent from the field and 31.3 percent from three point range.

Belhaven will stay in Texas and face Mary Hardin-Baylor this Saturday in Belton, Texas. The two teams will tip-off beginning at 4:00 p.m.
