JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven University softball team will host the University of the Ozarks for a three-game series this weekend at Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss. The Blazers and the Eagles will play a doubleheader Friday at 5 p.m., followed by a single game Saturday at 12 p.m.
The series was moved from the Blazers home field of McLeod Field in Jackson to the
Mississippi College Softball Complex in Clinton due to a temporary water outage planned by the city of Jackson in order to repair a break on a water main. The contests will still be considered home games for Belhaven.
Belhaven (4-11) enters the series with the Ozarks looking to break a three-game winless streak. The Blazers were swept by Concordia on the road in Austin, Texas last weekend. The Green and Gold had a sixth-inning lead in each of the first two games against Concordia, but the Tornados rallied to win in both.
Belhaven was scheduled to play Rust College at home on Tuesday of this week, but were forced to postpone the games due to inclement weather.
Third baseman
Makayla Reed is batting .317 for the season with four doubles and seven RBI. Outfielder
Savannah Lyon recorded three hits versus Concordia and is now hitting .278 with two doubles.
The Ozarks (3-9) have lost its past five contests and nine of the last 10. The Eagles were swept by Hardin-Simmons at home last weekend.

The series this weekend will be the first ever meetings between Belhaven and the Ozarks. The two teams were scheduled to play a three-game set in Clarksville, Ark. last season, but rain forced the cancellation of all three games.
