JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven men's tennis team posted two victories at home on Wednesday afternoon over Rust College. The Blazers won the first match 9-0 before taking the second match 7-0. With the pair of victories, Belhaven improves to 8-5 on the season.
In the first match,
Ivan Alberto Kerkoc and
Owen Taylor notched a win at the No. 1 doubles spot 8-0. Both of the other doubles matches were won by the Blazers due to default.
In singles action, Kerkoc cruised 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot. Taylor also rolled 6-0, 6-0 and
Judson Watson tabbed a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles. Belhaven won the next three singles matches by default.
During the second match, it was Kerkoc and Taylor again taking care of business at the No. 1 spot with an 8-0 match win. The Green and Gold once again won the other two doubles matches by default.
Belhaven won the four, five, and six singles matches all by default, while Watson recorded another match victory with an 8-1 decision at No. 3 singles. Kerkoc and Taylor's matches were unfinished.
The Blazers will next host Centenary on Friday at 4 p.m.
