JACKSON, Miss. - Belhaven men's and women's tennis will host Tougaloo College and Delta State University Saturday at Parham Bridges Tennis Center. The first match is set for 10 a.m. against Tougaloo with the second match to follow at 3 p.m. against Delta State.
The men's team came away with two victories last weekend, defeating Huntingdon and Blue Mountain College in their set of three matches by scores of 7-2 and 9-0. The Green and Gold fell to Rhodes in their first match of the weekend last Friday.
The women won all three of their matches last week. The Blazers defeated Rhodes 5-4, rolled past Huntingdon 7-2 and defeated Blue Mountain 6-3.
The men enter Saturday with a 2-2 overall record, while the women's team is currently 3-1.
Rene Ramos and Ivanna Echezuria were named NCCAA Student-Athletes of the Week on Tuesday. Ramos is perfect in singles play so far this season, and Echezuria has yet to drop either a doubles or singles match.
Delta State's men's team enters Saturday with an 0-1 record. The Statesmen lost their first match to Alcorn State, 5-4.
DSU's women's team is 1-4 on the year. The Statesmen have lost three consecutive matches.
