HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a back and forth game early on with both teams trading baskets. Birmingham Southern held on to a slight 17-16 advantage after the first quarter of action.
- A 10-3 run from Belhaven gave the Blazers the advantage at 26-24 midway through the quarter.
- However, BSC would end the half on a 11-2 run to lead 35-28 at the break.
- In the second half, Belhaven dominated both ends of the floor. The Blazers opened up the half on a 13-4 run to lead 41-39.
- Belhaven led 46-43 entering the fourth period of play.
- Birmingham Southern quickly closed the gap, but the Blazers responded with three baskets to lead 55-51 with four minutes remaining.
- With under two minutes to play, BSC re-took the lead at 57-55.
- The lead would immediately jump back into the hands of the Blazers after Kelsey Brown drilled a three point shot with under 90 seconds remaining to lead 58-57.
- Birmingham Southern would score yet again on a three point attempt to lead 60-58 with 15 seconds to play.
- AaLiyaha Thornton extended the game into overtime after converting on a clutch jump shot from the baseline to force overtime at 60-60.
- The Panthers made the most of their opportunities early on in the overtime period, and led 65-61.
- Kelsey Brown drilled another huge three pointer to cut the lead back down to one at 65-64 with one minute remaining.
- The Blazers had multiple chances to tie the game late, but were unable to convert.
- Thornton's jumper from the baseline fell just short on the Blazers' final offensive possession.

KEY STATISTICS
- Three Blazers finished the evening in double figures scoring with AaLiyaha Thornton leading the way with a team-high 12 points.
- Kelsey Brown and Lauren Brooks each accumulated 10 points apiece. Brown brought in a team-high seven rebounds while Brooks notched six rebounds in the loss.
- Brittany Ford and India Sims chipped in with nine and eight points respectively.
- Alexis Caldwell dished out three assists.
- The Blazers shot 42 percent from the field and scored 22 points inside the paint.
