JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven University women's basketball team fell to the McMurry Warhawks Saturday afternoon by a score of 62-44 in American Southwest Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first period of play, neither team led by more than two points as both Belhaven and McMurry would exchange leads through the first period.
- At the end of the first period, the two teams we all knotted up at 10-10.
- The second period saw more points fall in the basketball as McMurry would slowly begin to gain momentum. Belhaven at one point fell behind 27-19, but was able to work itself back into the game and go into halftime down 29-25.
- The second half would unfortunately point in the direction of the Warhawks as they would extend their lead to 17 points before the end of the third period. At the end of three, McMurry led 50-33.
- The final period of play would not feature many points as the two teams would only score 12 and 11 points apiece in the final ten minutes. The lead was to great for the Blazers to overcome as they would fall by a total score of 62-44.

KEY STATISTICS
- The Blazers were led offensively by AaLiyaha Thornton who finished the game with a total of twelve points, and six assists.
- Kayla Smothers collected six points along with one assist.
- Brittany Ford added five total points on the day and had one assist
- Kimberly Calhoun also had five points in the match.
- Belhaven finished the contest shooting 33 percent from the floor on 16-48 shooting.
- Belhaven scored 19 points off the bench along with 19 points within the paint.

UP NEXT
Belhaven will continue their home schedule with a rivalry matchup this Tuesday against Millsaps College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Rugg Arena.
