JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven University men's basketball team dropped a 91-87 decision at home on Saturday afternoon against McMurry in American Southwest Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In what was a highly entertaining and fast paced game, the Blazers and Warhawks had a total of 19 lead changes.
- Early on in the first half, the Blazers went on an 8-2 run to increase their lead out to 13-9.
- A 9-0 run from McMurry would propel the Warhawks back in front at 18-13 just moments later.
- Over the next minutes of game time, both teams would trade baskets and the contest was tied at 30-30 with under three minutes left in the half.
- A three pointer from Rick Hodum and a layup inside the paint from Kyle Patterson Sr. momentarily gave BU the advantage, but the game would be tied at 40 apiece heading into halftime.
- In the second half, McMurry clawed ahead to their largest lead at 50-42 after starting the half off on a 10-2 run.
- McMurry kept their offensive rhythm flowing as the the Blazers continued to trail by seven with under 11 minutes left.
- An 8-1 run from the Blazers would tie the contest back up at 61, and then an Isiah Brown three would catapult the Green and Gold ahead at 64-63.
- The Warhawks continued to find ways to score down low and kept the Blazers defense reeling.
- Belhaven trailed 80-76 with three minutes left in regulation.
- Brown stepped up again and knocked down a clutch trey, and then Victor Price would sink two huge free throws to give Belhaven the lead once again at 81-80.
- However, McMurry would refuse to go away as the game was tied up at 85 with with 30 seconds remaining.
- Coming out of a timeout, the Warhawks would drill a three point field goal from the right wing to go ahead 88-85.
- The Blazers had a great look from three to try and even up the score, but the shot went in and out, and McMurry would put the game away at the free throw line to preserve the victory.

KEY STATISTICS
- Isiah Brown shot 50 percent from the field and led the Belhaven offense with a team-high 17 points. Brown was also a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line.
- Brent Webber knocked down three three-point field goals, and collected a total of 14 points.
- Justin Jones finished in double figures scoring for the second consecutive game as he compiled 13 points on 4-9 shooting from the floor.
- Kyle Patterson Sr. and Victor Price each scored nine points apiece. Patterson Sr. dished out a team-high six assists as well.
- Jones and Patterson Sr. also added two steals each.
- Jonathan Durham notched eight points and brought in four rebounds.
- Gian Van Heeringen totaled a team-high five rebounds.
- As a team, Belhaven converted on 11 three-point field goals shooting 37 percent behind the arc.
- The Blazers shot 40 percent from the field and scored 16 points off of turnovers.
- McMurry shot 53 percent throughout the game, and collected 42 points in the paint with 21 points additionally scored off of turnovers.

UP NEXT
Belhaven will stay at home and will have a rematch with local rival Millsaps next Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The Majors defeated the Green and Gold 98-68 in the first meeting.
