JACKSON, MS. The Belhaven men's basketball team combined with Rhodes College on Wednesday night for an NCAA record of 112 free throw attempts in a 140-113 loss to the Rhodes College Lynx in Jackson, MS.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Belhaven came out strong with an early 5-2 lead, and would quickly extend their lead to 8-4 from a Rick Hodum three-pointer.
- A Joshua Roberts layup with 17:47 in the first half saw the Blazers go up by six by a score of 10-4.
- Belhaven would match their biggest lead of the game once again with a layup by Isiah Brown to make the score with a 12-6.
- The Lynx would execute back to back three's and score on a layup to give Rhodes a 14-12 lead.
- Rhodes would extend their lead to 20-17 before the Blazers would tie the ballgame up and eventually take the lead on a pair of free throws by Johnathan Durham to give the Blazers the 21-20 edge.
- A Tommy McCoy layup would give the Blazers their final lead for the game at 23-20.
- With 8:25 left to go in the first half, the Lynx would score the go-ahead points on a layup by Ian Harrison and never look back from the remainder of the game.
- At the half, Rhodes had a commanding twelve point lead by a score of 69-57.
- The second half almost matched the first half scoring by both teams as Rhodes would outscore the Blazers 71-56 in the second half of play.
- The Blazers would ultimately fall by a total score of 140-113 in what was a record-breaking game by both teams.

KEY STATISTICS
- Seven Blazers had double-digit points on the night with Joshua Roberts leading the way with 19 points.
- Rick Hodum finished second on the night for Belhaven in scoring with 15 points.
- Isiah Brown and Tommy McCoy each added 14 points while Terik Richardson and Victor Price came in clutch with 11 points apiece.
- Brent Webber also had a stellar night with 10 points.
- Joshua Roberts once again led the Blazers with 4 assists on the night.
- An NCAA record of 112 free throws was attempted tonight between the two teams with Rhodes attempting 46 free throws and the Blazers shooting 66 free throws.
- The Green and Gold also added 52 points from the bench and 34 points from inside the paint.

The Green and Gold (0-2) will take a few days off for the Thanksgiving break, but will return to action once again on November 28 in an away matchup versus cross-town rival, Millsaps College (1-2). Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. for that matchup.
