JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven women's basketball team saw their winning streak end at five games with a 75-65 loss to LeTourneau in American Southwest Conference (ASC) East play Thursday night inside Rugg Arena.
The two teams played consistently through much of the first half, with no team having more than a two-score possession lead at any time during the first fifteen minutes.
The Yellowjackets (9-9), leading 38-32 with less than three minutes remaining in the half, went on an 8-3 run to end the first half to have their biggest lead of nine, 44-35, at intermission.
The third quarter would be neck-and-neck, which meant the Green and Gold (10-6) was unable to gain any ground in the period.
Down 59-50 heading into the fourth period, the Green and Gold went on a 9-2 run in the first 4:38 of the quarter to cut the deficit to two, 61-59. However, LETU's 7-2 run in about a three-minute span sealed the deal for the Yellowjackets.
Samara Dingiswayo tallied her first double-double as a member of the Blazers with 14 points and rebounds each. The senior added three blocks, and two assists to her line.
Candler Gregory scored 13 points for the Blazers.
Kelsey Brown finished with nine points, with seven coming in the second half on 3-for-7 shooting.
Vamikka Smith also blocked three shots, while totaling six assists and boards each.
Crystal Jones matched a career high 36 points in the win for LETU.
The Blazers return to the floor on Saturday for a contest with UT Tyler. Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m. inside Rugg Arena.
