MARSHALL, TEXAS - Belhaven men's basketball fell 102-55 to East Texas Baptist Saturday afternoon in Marshall, Texas.Â
Belhaven was able to hang with ETBU early, trailing just 10-9 seven minutes into the first half after
Gian van Heeringen nailed a three and
Ron Davis knocked down a short jumper.Â
At the 8:00 mark of the first half the Blazers were trailing the Tigers by just eight points, but ETBU closed the half on a 20-2 run to take a 26-point advantage into the halftime break. The Green and Gold finished the first half with just 18 points, their lowest output in a half this season.Â
Belhaven played better offensively in the second half, scoring 37 points and shooting 41 percent from the field. But the Tigers scored 58 points of their own and outrebounded the Blazers 32-16.Â
For the game, ETBU grabbed 55 rebounds to Belhaven's 29, and recorded 25 second chance points off of 19 offensive boards.Â
Brandon Pressley totaled 14 points, including 12 in the second half, to pace the Blazers. Davis added nine points while
DJ Young-Beasley chipped in eight points, three rebounds and three steals.Â
Sixty-six of ETBU's 102 points were scored by members of the Tigers bench. Jay McKnight, Dion Mack, Jordan Gray and Davis Robinson all scored double-digits coming off the bench. Dylan Augustine scored a team-high 14 points.Â
Belhaven drops to 2-12 with the loss while East Texas Baptist improves to 11-4.Â
The Blazers are now 0-9 on the road this season, but return to the friendly confines of Rugg Arena on Tuesday, Jan. 16 to host Rust College at 6 p.m.
