JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven volleyball team prepares for its first matchups of the 2016 season against Texas-Tyler and 11th-ranked Texas Dallas this weekend in the Lone Star State.

This will be the fourth meeting all-time for both the UT-Tyler Patriots and the No. 11 UT Dallas Comets. The Blazers are 1-3 against the Patriots, while the Green and Gold will be seeking their first win against the Comets.Â
After a successful weekend at the Belhaven Classic, the Blazers traveled to Birmingham, Ala. for a matchup with Division II opponent Miles Tuesday night. The Blazers swept the Golden Bears in straight sets, 25-14, 25-20 and 25-22.Â
Blaykleigh Smythe is near the top in the ASC in both kills and attacking percentage. The Phoenix, Ariz. native currently has 82 kills, good for fourth place in the conference, while posting an impressive .395 attacking percentage, tops in the ASC. She is currently 11 kills shy of hitting 300 in her career, and has a career .301 attacking percentage.
Belhaven currently holds a .119 opponent attacking percentage, good for second in the ASC. Over the weekend at the Belhaven Classic, the defense held their opponents to a .109 percentage for the weekend.
The Blazers will make its first trip of four to Texas this season, with two stops being in Richardson. The second trek to the Dallas suburb is for the second ASC Crossover Challenge on Oct. 14 and 15.Â
First serve against the Patriots on Friday is set for 7 p.m., while Saturday's matchup against the Comets will begin at 2 p.m.
