JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven Softball team's win streak came to an end Saturday afternoon, as the Blazers fell to Howard Payne 1-0 in the series finale at Jim McLeod Field.
The game was scoreless through the fifth inning, but the visitors capitalized on a leadoff single and a walk to start the sixth inning.
After the runners were moved over on a groundout to the right side, the Yellow Jackets scored on a sacrifice fly to left field.
Taylor Surrento was dealt the loss, giving up the one run, while recording six strikeouts in 5.2 innings pitched.
Belhaven had a chance in the seventh.
Haley Yasses hit a one-out single and
Savannah Johnston followed it up with a slap bunt over the head of the closing third baseman back to the shortsop for a single.
However, Crystal Khetel grounded into a game-ending double play in the next at bat.
The Blazers were held to just four hits in the game and two walks.
Makenzie Hawkins and Kehtel had the other two hits in the game.

Taylor O'Dell had the walks for Belhaven.
The Blazers will look to bounce back next Friday with a doubleheader at LeTourneau University. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Longview, Texas.
