LONGVIEW, Texas - The Belhaven Softball team, thanks to a 15-strikeout performance by
Julienne Broussard, returned to their winning ways on Friday by sweeping ASC foe LeTourneau 5-1 and 3-0 at the LETU Softball Field.

Broussard (13-2) went the distance for the Green and Gold in the opening game of the doubleheader, striking out a career high 15, while allowing one run on four hits. The 15-strikeout performance breaks her previous high of 12, which she accomplished twice, recently this season on March 24 against Sul Ross State.

Belhaven's bats did not come alive until the fifth inning, when the Blazers scored three times in the frame.
Brooke Laigast started the frame with a leadoff walk.
Savannah Johnston followed with a bunt single to third.
Dani Craft then loaded the bases with a single.

With the bases loaded,
Hannah Holloway brought home Laigast home with an RBI single for the first run for the Green and Gold.
Makenzie Hawkins followed with a double to bring home Johnston and Craft for the 3-0 advantage.

The Blazers added two more insurance runs in the seventh. After back-to-back singles by Holloway and Hawkins,
Carly Yasses doubled to bring the runners home for the 5-0 lead.

Broussard's 46 and one-third innings scoreless streak was snapped with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, when LeTourneau scored their lone run of the contest.

In game two, the Blazers' (27-6) bats once again woke up in the fifth with a three-run inning. Craft scored the first run of the inning with a single through the right side, bringing home
Adrianna Wallace, who pitch ran for Crystal Kethel, who started the rally with a leadoff single.

Holloway scored the second run on a squeeze bunt. The junior laid down a bunt down the first base side of the infield to bring home
Mary Austin Barber. The third run was brought home when Hawkins reached on a LeTourneau (17-19) error.

Jordan Herring (8-1) went the distance in game two, shutting out the Yellowjackets on just three hits. She did fan two batters.

The Blazers will wrap up the series on Saturday with an 11 a.m. first pitch.
