AUSTIN, Texas – Belhaven Baseball took the series opening loss to Concordia Texas at Tornado Field Friday night, falling 19-1.
Concordia (20-11, 12-4) scored eight runs in the first inning, followed by three more runs to an 11-0 lead.
Konner James, who replaced
Trey Eschberger in the sixth inning, had a memorable at-bat of his collegiate career. The freshman sent a fly ball over the left center field wall for his first career homerun, which was also his first career hit at the collegiate level.
Tyler Wolfe pitched efficiently in his first extended outing of the year for Belhaven (18-13, 8-8). The sophomore pitched four innings, allowed seven hits and two earned runs while striking out five.
Zach Osha (1-4), after a strikeout to start the game, allowed six runs (four earned) on three hits and one walk.
The three-game series will conclude on Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader from Tornado Field.
