AUSTIN, Texas – The Belhaven Baseball team was swept in a three-game series with 2-0 and 12-2 losses on Saturday.
The Blazers were unable to score any runs in game one of the twin bill, while only able to scratch across three hits.
Tanner Moulder (5-3) allowed single runs in the first and the third, but he was provided no offense in the loss. He went the distance, allowed five hits and struck out eight batters.
In game two, the Blazers (18-15, 8-10) took their first lead of the series with a
Gabe Veith solo home run in the top of the third, his first of his career in two-plus seasons with the Green and Gold.
However, the lead would be short lived, as Concordia Texas (22-11, 14-4) scored three times in the bottom half of the frame.
Belhaven would add another run on a
Terrell Hodges fifth home run of the season in the fourth inning, but the Tornadoes answered with nine runs in the final five innings to take the series sweep.
Shane Brown (2-3) went four-plus innings, allowed two earned runs on five hits, while walking three and fanning two batters.
Belhaven's five of its final six regular season games are at home, and the five-game homestand will begin on Tuesday as the Blazers take on Mississippi College. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
