MARSHALL, Texas – The Belhaven Blazers defeated ASC opponent East Texas Baptist 8-1 Thursday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Tennis Courts.
 
The Blazers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles action, earning a sweep of the Tigers with a pair of tightly contested battles. Harry Amor and Tomas Ojeda needed an extra set to defeat Tyler Tolopka and Cody Highsmith 9-8 in number one singles.
 
Omar Lopez and Rene Ramos also had a tight battle, defeating Ryan Pearce and Dillon Deatherage 8-5. Pawel Tarasewicz and Rafael Siqueira won 8-1 in the final doubles match, defeating Connor Mason Rollin Houk.
 
In singles action, Rafael Siqueira was the only Blazer to fall, losing 6-4, 7-6 to Tyler Tolopka.
 
Gabriel Da Costa topped Connor Mason 6-2, 6-2 and Tomas Ojeda beat Dillon Deatherage 6-1, 7-5 in two and three singles, sealing the victory.
 
Omar Lopez needed three sets to defeat Cody Highsmith 3-6, 6-1, 6-0.
 
With the match already in hand, Pawel Tarasewicz defeated Ryan Pearce 8-4 and Rene Ramos defeated Reid Adams 8-1 to wrap up the victory for Belhaven.
