Belhaven comeback bid falls short to Ozarks

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – The Belhaven Women's Basketball teams comeback bid fell short Thursday night, as the Blazers fell to Ozarks 63-65 at Mabee Gymnasium.

Belhaven trailed 56-63 with 57 seconds left and then again by seven with 18 seconds left at 58-65, but Sierra Pittman's three pointer and two more points from Candler Gregory drew the Blazers closer.

However, after Gregory pulled down a rebound with about a second left, Belhaven was not able to get a shot off and fell to the Eagles.

Gregory finished with 14 points in the contest and five rebounds, playing all 40 minutes. Gregory had two three pointers and made the rest of her points from the stripe, going 8-for-8 on free-throw attempts. Gregory also had five rebounds.

Jasmine Brown joined Pittman and Gregory in double figures, collecting a double-double in the game. Brown led the Blazers with 11 rebounds and also had 13 points in the contest. Brown added three steals, two assists and one of three blocks on the night for Belhaven.

Jacinda Smith had the other two blocks for Belhaven. Her night also included eight points, six rebounds, three assists and a steal.

The Blazers will remain on the road and head to the Dallas suburb of Richardson to face the University of Texas at Dallas on Saturday in an ASC East Division clash. Tip off is set for 1:00 p.m. against the Comets.
