JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Men's Tennis team defeated Centenary 9-0 on Saturday afternoon at Parham Bridges.
The Blazers (3-1) earned their first three points in doubles against the Gents (0-6).
Gabriel Da Costa and
Harry Amor defeated Stafford Lyons and Scott Nguyen 8-2 in No. 1 doubles.
At the No. 2 and No. 3 Doubles, the Blazers did not allow a point.
Omar Lopez and
Tomas Ojeda swept Matthew Ferrell and Christopher Matthews, while
Rafael Siqueira and
Pawel Tarasewicz took care of Nathan Hooper and Jonahtan Harrel with similar 8-0 scores.
In singles, Siqueira defeated Lyons 6-2, 6-2, while Ojeda won his match against Nguyen 6-1, 6-1 to make it a 5-0 Belhaven lead, sealing the victory.
Da Costa and Ivan Alberto Kiroc each swept their opponent in singles play. Da Costa defeated Ferrell, while Kirkoc swept Hooper by similar 6-0, 6-0 scores.
At No. 5 and No. 6 singles,
Marcus Creese beat Christopher Matthews 8-2, while
Judson Watson swept Eric Eyrnard 8-0 to complete the sweep.
The Blazers will next prepare for its ASC East opener on Saturday, February 27, when Texas-Tyler comes to town. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Parham Bridges.
