MARSHALL, Texas – The Belhaven Blazers Women's Basketball team fell late to East Texas Baptist Thursday night 53-68.
The Blazers were in a tight battle and exchanged the lead multiple times throughout the contest until ETBU took the lead late in the third quarter. The Tigers then hit a three at the buzzer to end the third, taking a five-point lead, and the Blazers were unable to recover.
Ieshia Dixon led the Blazers with 13 points off the bench in the contest. Dixon had 11 in the first half and also had three rebounds in just 17 minutes of action.
Candler Gregory and
Sierra Pittman also joined Dixon in double figures. Gregory finished with 11 points and was also second on the Blazers with seven rebounds in the game.
Gregory also extended her streak of consecutive games with at least one three pointer to 24 contests with her three pointer in the first half.
Pittman finished with 10 points in the game, but also chipped in with three rebounds and two assists.
Jacinda Smith led the Blazers in the game with eight rebounds. Smith also had one of four blocks for the Blazers in the game.
Tamora Shelton had two blocks and
Kyra Washington also added a block. Shelton added five rebounds and four points, while Washington also had four points and three rebounds.
Belhaven will wrap up the season on Saturday as the Green and Gold head to Pineville, Louisiana to take on Louisiana College in the season finale. Tip is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday.
