JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven Blazers picked up a win on senior night, defeating LeTourneau University 63-59 to close out the 2015-16 home schedule.
While the seniors were recognized prior to the game,
Sierra Pittman had the biggest night for the Blazers, scoring 23 points to finish as the only member of the team in double figures.
Pittman also grabbed seven rebounds and had an assist and a steal while not turning over the ball once in the victory.
Jacinda Smith,
Jasmine Brown, and
Kyra Washington were all recognized prior to the game and Smith and Washinton helped the Blazers to a strong start early. The duo combined for 10 points, eight rebounds, and had five blocks in the opening 20 minutes.
Smith finished the game with nine points and nine rebounds and also led the Blazers with five blocks.
Washington had the other three blocks for the Green and Gold and finished with six points and five rebounds.
Brown closed out her home career with eight assists in the game. She also had three steals to go along with eight points and four rebounds.
Candler Gregory extended her streak of games with at least one three pointer to 23. Gregory had two threes in the game and finished with nine points and five rebounds.
The Blazers will wrap up their 2015-16 season on the road for the final two games. The first contest comes against East Texas Baptist on Thursday. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m. against the Tigers in Marshall.
