JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven volleyball team contested with Texas Dallas, but fell to the Comets, 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-19) on Friday night inside Rugg Arena.
Prior to the start of the match, the Blazers honored their three seniors:
Annelle Anderson,
Jackie Gunderson and
Abbey Herman.
UTD was able to dominate the attack from the start, with the Comets (15-1) recording 40 kills to the Blazers (7-12) 24.
Anderson led the Blazers with six kills off the bench, while
Blaykleigh Smythe added five, and
Lauren Whiting killing four attacks.
Hope Tourney totaled three kills, and recorded three blocks, with two blocks of the solo variety.
Herman dug out 11 attacks, putting her at 900 career digs in four seasons with the Green and Gold.
Gunderson also notched 10 digs, and has recorded double-digit figures in digs for five straight matches.
Kelly Aholt tallied 19 assists, putting her 29 assists behind Amy Lejarzar's 1,742 for fourth-best in school history.
The Green and Gold will look to rebound Saturday afternoon, as they take on Texas-Tyler inside Rugg Arena. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
