LONGVIEW, Texas - The Belhaven volleyball team began its final weekend of conference action with a sweep of LeTourneau on Friday night inside Solheim Arena, taking down the YellowJackets, 25-22, 25-17, 25-21.
The first set was evenly matched between the two squads, but the Blazers (9-15) out-attacked the YellowJackets .116 to .098 in the opener to take the set.Â
In the last two sets, LeTourneau (7-21) was unable to hold off on the attack, committing 13 errors to the Blazers' eight.Â
With a team attack percentage of .202, this is the sixth time this season that the Green and Gold have totaled a .200 percentage or better.Â
With the season sweep of LeTourneau, the Blazers are now 5-4 all-time against the YellowJackets.
Annelle Anderson killed a season high 10 attacks on 16 total attacks while committing two errors.Â
Lauren Whiting and
Blaykleigh Smythe each added eight kills in the win. Smythe also totaled three blocks, while Whiting recorded five digs.Â
Abbey Herman, who came into the weekend leading the American Southwest Conference (ASC) in digs, continued her pace Friday night with 25 digs.Â
Jackie Gunderson added 16 digs, while on the attack for six kills.Â
Kelly Aholt continued setting Belhaven's attack: assisting on 36 of Belhaven's 39 kills.Â
Elyse Wright totaled nine kills and 10 digs for LeTourneau, while Dolores Henson dug out 15 attacks.Â
The Blazers will wrap up ASC play on Saturday with a contest against East Texas Baptist in Marshall. First serve is slated for 2 p.m.
