TYLER, TEXAS - The Belhaven men's soccer team lost a tight match Thursday night at Perkins Complex, falling to the University of Texas at Tyler 1-0.
After a scoreless first half that saw the Blazers take four shots to the Patriots three, Texas-Tyler's Leandro Fernandez found the back of the net four minutes into the second half to give the Patriots a one-goal lead.
The Green and Golf managed five shots in the second half and tallied four corner kicks in the final 20 minutes of play, but were unable to find the equalizing goal.
Sam Joy led the Blazers with four total shots, a season-high, while
Simon Gouabault added two shots.
Belhaven falls to 4-7-1 on the year with the loss while Texas-Tyler improves to 7-4.
Next up, the Blazers will play their final road game of the season on Saturday, traveling to Clarksville, Ark. to take on the Eagles of the University of the Ozarks. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
