JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Blazers Women's Basketball team fell to the University of the Ozarks Saturday afternoon 59-67 in Rugg Arena.
The Blazers held leads after 10 and 20 minutes, but struggled to 20 percent shooting in the second half and were unable to maintain the Eagles, falling in a late defeat.
Belhaven was outscored 36-25 in the second half, falling to 6-13 on the season.
Candler Gregory led the Blazers in scoring, finishing with 16 points, including a pair of three pointers. The junior extended her streak of games with at least one three pointer to 19.
Gregory also had four rebounds, an assist and a steal in the contest.
Sierra Pittman and
Jasmine Brown were also in double figures for the Blazers. Pittman finished with 14 points and added four steals, three assists, and two rebounds in the game.
Brown finished with 10 points and also had three boards, two assists and a steal.
Jacinda Smith led the Blazers on the glass, recording nine rebounds to go along with seven points, four assists, three blocks and a steal.
The Blazers are back in action on Thursday and will face off against the University of the Ozarks again, this time in Clarksville, Arkansas to start the second round of games against ASC East teams. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m. against the Eagles.
