JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Women's Basketball team fell to the University of Texas at Dallas Comets 48-55 on Thursday to open up a 2-game home stand in Rugg Arena.
The Blazers outscored the Yellow Jackets in the first half and
Kyra Washington had a career high on the night, but Belhaven was unable to match a hot shooting UT Dallas team in the second half.
Washington had a strong first half for the Blazers, scoring six points in six minutes on 3-for-3 shooting. The senior would go on to add four more points in the second half to finish with a career high 10 points in the contest.
Washington also finished with two rebounds and a block in 12 minutes.
Sierra Pittman also finished in double figures for the Blazers, scoring 13 points with four steals, three rebounds and an assist.
Candler Gregory extend her streak with at least one three pointer to 18 games. Gregory finished with five points and five rebounds, while also recording two steals.
Erika Smith,
Jacinda Smith and
Tamora Shelton each finished with six rebounds in the game to lead the Blazers.
Erika Smith finished with eight points and two steals as well.
Ieshia Dixon joined Smith with eight points off the bench.
The Blazers remain at home in Rugg Arena with another ASC East Division matchup against the University of the Ozarks. Tip off is set for 1:00 p.m. against the Eagles.
