LONGVIEW, Texas - The Belhaven Women's Basketball team fell to LeTourneau University 56-70 on Thursday to open up a 2-game road swing in East Texas.
The Blazers outscored the Yellow Jackets in the second half and
Sierra Pittman scored 23 points, but Belhaven was unable to overcome a deficit after a hot shooting LeTourneau team scored 46 points in the first 20 minutes.
Pittman had a strong first for the Blazers, scoring 16 points in the opening 20 minutes. The junior would go on to finish with nine points in the second half to end with 23 points for the contest. Pittman also finished with six rebounds to lead the team, and added an assist and a steal.
Candler Gregory also finished in double figures for the Blazers, scoring 10 points with three rebounds and an assist. Gregory hit two three pointers in the contest to extend her streak with at least one three pointer to 16 games.
Jacinda Smith and
Tamora Shelton each finished with five rebounds in the game. Smith finished with seven points and Shelton added three.
Ieshia Dixon led the Blazers off the bench with seven points.
The Blazers will remain on the road in East Texas, traveling a little further west down I-20 to Tyler for a battle against the University of Texas at Tyler. Tip off is set for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
