LONGVIEW, Texas - The Belhaven Men's Basketball team dropped an ASC battle against LeTourneau University 78-92 Thursday evening to open up a 2-game road swing in East Texas.
Senior
Josh Carpenter had a career night for the Blazers, but it was not enough as the Yellow Jackets outscored Belhaven by seven points in each half.
Carpenter went 12-of-19 from the field inside Solheim Arena, including three shots from behind the arc, and was perfect on all five attempts from the free-throw line to score 32 points in the contest.
The Hattiesburg, Mississippi native also grabbed three rebounds, an assist and a block to go along with his career high in points.
Fellow senior
De'la Mayers also had a big night scoring for the Blazers, shooting 8-of-11 from the field en route to a 22-point night. Mayers also collected four rebounds and an assist to go along with four blocks for the Green and Gold.
Josh Gaskin led the way for the Blazers on the glass, recording eight rebounds to match his eight points. Gaskin also had a block and an assist.
The Blazers will remain on the road in East Texas, traveling a little further west down I-20 to Tyler for a battle against the University of Texas at Tyler. Tip off is set for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
