JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven Men's Basketball team fell to Hardin-Simmons University in American Southwest Conference play 56-87 on Saturday at Rugg Arena.
 
De'la Mayers and Josh Gaskin led the way for the Blazers, with each scoring 15 points in the contest. Gaskin also had three blocks and three steals in the contest, while Mayers led the Blazers with six rebounds.
 
Belhaven entered the second half trailing by five to the Cowboys. However, the Blazers, who shot 45 percent in the first half, shot just 18 percent from the field in the second half and were outscored 43-17.
 
The Blazers were outrebounded 54-37 in the game, including 14 offensive rebounds by the Cowboys that turned into 21 second chance points.
 
Jack Griffiths led the Blazers with four assists in the game. Fred Douglas tied with Gaskin for the team high in three steals.
 
Samuel Mast and Dyron Anderson finished tied for second for Belhaven with four rebounds apiece.
 
The Blazers will return to action on Monday in an ASC game against McMurry University. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. inside Rugg Arena.
