JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven Blazers Women's Basketball team fell to East Texas Baptist 66-77 on Saturday in American Southwest Conference play.
The Blazers held a lead after 10 minutes, but the Ligers took over with a 20-9 second quarter and Belhaven was unable to close the gap over the final 20 minutes.
Jasmine Brown led four Blazers in double figures, scoring 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting. Brown also had eight rebounds, five assists and four steals in the contest.
Jacinda Smith joined Brown in double figures and also recorded a double-double with 11 rebounds and 10 points. Smith also had two blocks and two steals.
Candler Gregory extended her streak of consecutive games with at least one three pointer, connecting on three from behind the arc in the game to help her finish with 17 points.
Ieshia Dixon was also in double figures, finishing with 10 points.
Belhaven outrebounded ETBU 39-34 in the contest but was just 21-of-61 (.344) from the field while the Tigers shot over 50 percent.
The Blazers will return to the road next week, traveling to LeTourneau University for the first of two straight in East Texas. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday in Longview.
