JACKSON, Miss. - Belhaven Volleyball is on the road today, squaring up against fellow American Southwest Conference member Sul Ross State University in Belton, TX.  The match is scheduled to begin at 2:30PM.
 
This weekend marks the first ASC Crossover Challenge of the season for the Green and Gold.  After Sul Ross State, the Blazers will face Howard Payne University on Saturday morning at 10AM, and Concordia University Texas at 3PM.
 
Belhaven and Sul Ross take the court for the second time in program history on Friday afternoon.  The first time the two teams met was during Belhaven Volleyball's 1996 inaugural season, where the Sul Ross topped the Blazers 3-0.
 
Howard Payne and Belhaven have only played three times, the first in 2003 that ended in a 0-3 loss for the Blazers. In that series, Belhaven is 1-2.
 
Squaring up against the Concordia University Tornadoes will be a first for Belhaven.  The Tornadoes are 3-3 on the season.
 
The Blazers enter the weekend averaging 10.3 kills per set, 9.7 assists per set and 759 total digs through 12 matchups.   They stand at 6-6 on the season, and look to end a 4-game losing skid.
 
Freshman Lauren Whiting continues her strong start, leading the way in kills for the Blazers, having collected 91 so far this season.  She also has 347 attacks and a .159 attacking percentage.
 
Senior Libero Cassidy Fitzpatrick leads in digs, having 212 through 12 matches.  She is on her way to 400 career digs as a Blazer.
 
Junior Abbey Herman is also on the Blazers Milestone Watchlist, as she approaches 300 career digs.  Against rival Millsaps, Herman totaled 15 digs (a new career high) and four attacks.
 
Up next for the Blazers is a matchup against University of Texas- Tyler in Rugg Arena.  The game is set for a 7PM start.
