JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven Blazers will return home on Saturday to take on Huntingdon College at H.T. Newell Field.
The Blazers stand at 0-3 on the season after falling to cross-town rival Mississippi College, 21-42, last Saturday at Robinson-Hale Stadium in Clinton, Mississippi.
Huntingdon College, will be playing in its third game of the season, coming off of a bye week which followed a 34-35 loss at Birmingham-Southern College two weeks ago. The Hawks started the 2015 season with a 56-35 win over American Southwest Conference opponent Louisiana College.
Saturday's meeting will mark the first game between Belhaven and Huntingdon in football. However, the two schools have played in nearly every other team sport in the history of the athletic departments, including volleyball earlier this season, a Blazers victory.
Huntingdon is the second of six new opponents for the 2015 season, most of any season in school history other than the Blazers' debut season of 1998.
Huntingdon is under the direction of head coach and athletic director Mike Turk, only the 2nd coach for the Hawks in program history. Turk has just one losing season for Huntingdon, his first in 2004 and is 72-37 in his 11+ seasons as the coach.
Saturday's football game will also have several other events tied to it, including Family Weekend, Youth Day, and Coach to Cure MD. The Blazers will have several special features prior to and during the game for all three of this weeks themes.
