JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven Volleyball team fell to the East Texas Baptist University in its American Southwest Conference debut Friday night.
The Blazers fell 13-25, 17-25, 16-25 and are now 6-4 on the season.
"We just got beat by a better team tonight," said head coach
Justin Dee. "ETBU played outstanding and we played great, just not great enough."
Junior
Jackie Gunderson led the way in kills, recording six on the night. She also collected seven digs and two assists in the game, proving to be an all-around player for the Blazers.
Senior
Cassidy Fitzpatrick collected 17 digs to lead the team, along with 5 assists and one ace. Fitzpatrick is only 10 digs shy of achieving 350 for her career with for the Green and Gold.
Kelly Aholt finished the match with 12 assists to lead the team and also recorded nine digs, second most for the Blazers. Aholt also had five kills in the game from the setter position.
Senior
Molly Boyer led the Blazers in blocks, recording four on the evening.
Annelle Anderson also contributed with three, while
Chae Levy and
Lauren Whiting each contributed to two blocks in the match.
The Blazers will continue in their ASC schedule on Saturday, squaring up against LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. The matchup is set to begin at 2 p.m.
