JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven men's soccer team were unable to break a 1-1 tie in double overtime to the Mary Hardin-Baylor Cru on Thursday night at the Belhaven Bowl.
After a scoreless first half, sophomore forward

Nicolas Cornejo to give the Blazers the early second half lead.
The Cru (2-2-1, 0-0-1) tied the match 1-1 in the 75

"That was a tough thing for us to deal with," said head coach
Carl Griffiths. "I think we did a pretty good job responding to the situation, maintaining our composure as a team and fighting to win the match."
The match would go into overtime. Even though the Blazers took nine shots in the two overtime periods, the Green and Gold could not notch the game-winning goal.
The Blazers would finish with 26 shots in the match, with nine on goal.
Junior goalkeeper
Ben Schaefer added six saves in the match.

Thursday's 1-1 draw against the Cru is the first in a home opener for the Blazers (22-6-1).
"We have a lot of things to get better at," Griffiths said. "One of the things looking ahead to Concordia is getting healthy. It is going to be about our depth and how quickly we can recover."
The Blazers will look to rebound on Saturday afternoon against Concordia Texas. The match is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at the Belhaven Bowl.
