LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Belhaven Men's Soccer Team came-from-behind to defeat Covenant 2-1 on Saturday evening.
Belhaven (3-0) comes back from a 1-0 halftime deficit with two huge goals in the second half to defeat the Scots (1-3) at Scotland Yard.
Sophomore forward
Lucas Talaveira-Befi's third goal of the season nodded the match to one early in the second half in the 53
rd minute.
Senior midfielder
Cillian Thompson's first goal of the 2015 campaign came at a great time for the Blazers, as he earned the game-winning goal in the 85
th minute off an assist by Befi.
The Blazers have scored a total of five goals this season, four coming in the second half. They have allowed one goal so far this season in the second half. Last season, the Blazers outscored opponents 22-12 in the later half.
Belhaven snaps a winless drought (0-2-1) against Covenant. The last win against the Scots came almost 30 years ago on September 14, 1985, 1-0.
The Blazers earn their 32
nd win against institutions from the state of Georgia (32-17-4).
Belhaven continues to dominate away from the Belhaven Bowl, marking its 35
th win away from the Bowl since the beginning of the 2012 season (35-10-2).
The Blazers will make their home opener on Thursday, September 17 to face off against Mary Hardin-Baylor. The ASC opener is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Belhaven Bowl.
