MOBILE, Ala. – The Belhaven Men's Tennis team split day two of the SSAC Roundup on Saturday, defeating Bethel 9-0 before falling to William Carey 6-3.
Belhaven made quick work of Bethel in the morning session. In doubles action, the pairing of
Daniel Duarte and
Alexander Puyol defeated Nikola Slavik and Hunter Todd 8-4.
Daniel Prado and
Jefferson Nino topped Joshua Barrett Phelps and Andrew Butler 8-2, while
Omar Lopez and
Rafael Siqueira made quick work of Jimmie Walker and Austin Danial 8-1.
In singles action, Nino topped Slavik 6-4, (5-7), 1-0 and Duarte beat Barrett Phelps 6-2, 6-4.
Prado defeated Todd 6-2, 6-2, while Lopez made fairly quick work of Butler 6-0, 6-0.
Also in singles action, Siqueira topped Walker 6-0, 6-1 and Laclan Puyol picked up a win in his only match of the day, defeating Matt Wassman 6-0, 6-0.
Against Carey, the Blazers picked up three points, doing so with one point in doubles action and two in singles play. Nino and Prado defeated Clement Fosse and Lukas Moritzen 8-4.
Lopez and Siqueira each won a tight three set series in singles action. Lopez topped Leonardo Sechi 6-2, (3-6), 1-0. Siqueira beat Lukas Moritzen 6-1, (1-6), 1-0.
The Blazers will return to action next Saturday, playing Louisiana College on the road.
