JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven Men's Tennis team rebounded from a season opening loss last week with a 9-0 shutout victory over Centenary College Friday afternoon.
The Blazers nearly kept Centenary out of the win column completely in individual games, handing over just two points in the entire match.
In doubles action, the number one team of
Omar Lopez and
Rene Ramos defeated Stafford Lyons and Zach Provenza 8-1.
The doubles two pairing of
Jefferson Nino and
Daniel Prado handed the pairing of Chris Matthews and Kane Kershaw an 8-0 defeat.
Likewise, in doubles three,
Alexander Puyol and
Daniel Duarte also won 8-0 over Eric Eymard and Cavett Feazel.
Like the doubles matches, Belhaven made quick work of Centenary in singles play. Belhaven's number one Nino defeated Lyons 6-0, 6-0.
Duarte, Blazers number two also picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kershaw.
Daniel Prado was the only Blazer without a straight sweep, defeating Provenza 6-1, 6-0.
Lopez, Ramos, and
Rafael Siqueira also picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins for the Blazers over Matthews, Eymard, and Feazel, respectively.
The Blazers will return to action on Saturday with matches against Tougaloo College and Rust College.
