JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven Blazers picked up a victory Monday night in the final home game of the semester with a 62-55 win over Centenary College.
After a back-and-forth game, the Blazers pulled away from the Ladies with a 13-5 run over the final 2:36.
Candler Gregory gave the Blazers some breathing room with a three pointer after
Sierra Pittman made a layup to give the Blazers a 51-50 lead.
Belhaven followed it up with eight free throws to seal the victory for the Green-and-Gold.
Jasmine Brown led the scoring for the Blazers with a season high 15 points in the contest. Brown also had six rebounds.
Pittman was also in double figures for the Blazers, finishing with 11 points. The junior also had five assists and six steals in the game, both season highs.
Gregory was held to single digits in the points column for the first time this season, finishing with eight points. However the junior also grabbed a season high nine rebounds despite missing much of the second half due to foul trouble.
Vamikka Smith led the Blazers on the boards, grabbing 11 rebounds on the night.
Kandice Sims also had a big night on the boards, grabbing a season high nine rebounds. Both Sims and Smith finished with seven points.
Smith also had three of the Blazers five blocks in the game.
The Blazers will return to action on Saturday, as Belhaven travels to Montgomery, Alabama for a double header against Huntingdon University.
