Blazers Handle Bulldogs in Three Straight Sets

Box Score JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven volleyball team defeated the Bulldogs of Tougaloo College tonight in the final home match of the 2015 season.

At the end of an intense first set, the Blazers were victorious (25-21) with 13 kills through 53 attacks. The Blazers begun the second set (25-18) with a strong attacking presence, amassing 42 attacks, 11 of them ended in kills.

In the final set, the Blazers upped the ante once more, attacking the Bulldogs' defense 46 times. They finished with a 25-16 victory.

Leading the way in aces was Molly Boyer. She collected 3 of the Blazers' 8 total service aces. Allie Perkins and Chae Levy each collected two. Boyer also finished the match with four blocks.

Allie Perkins extended her career assists total by 30 tonight, as she accurately distributed the ball. Perkins also collected 14 digs throughout the match.

Jackie Gunderson finished the match against the Bulldogs with 10 kills, bringing her career total to 326.

Another offensive leaders for the Blazers were Lauren Whiting and Chae Levy, each collected 8 kills. Levy also had four blocks.

Cassidy Fitzpatrick now has 608 career digs as a Blazer, collecting 13 tonight. Fitzpatrick also Had two assists.

Abbey Herman collected 10 digs through three sets against Tougaloo.

On October 30-31, the Blazers will be competing in the Centenary College Tournament. On Friday, they will face a 22-14 Austin College team at 2PM, and then Centenary College at 8PM. Saturday's action will see Belhaven vs. Rust College at 2PM and Belhaven vs. Dillard University at 4PM.
