Blazers' rally falls short against Tigers

Box Score GAINESVILLE, Ga. - The Belhaven volleyball team fell 3-2 to Brenau University on Saturday by set scores of 14-25, 17-25, 25-22, 25-14, and 6-15. The Tigers have now won four straight Southern States Athletic Conference matches, while the Blazers suffered their third consecutive loss.

"I am more proud of our ladies tonight than I have been all season because we played the best combined match of the year," Head Coach Justin Dee said. "It counts as a loss on the scoreboard, but our team played with great energy, passion, and effort in this game."

The Blazers (8-9, 1-6 SSAC) dropped the first two sets but forced a decisive fifth set before Brenau prevailed by a final of 15-6. The Tigers now sit at 9-6 on the season, including a 5-2 mark in conference action.

Taylor Hall led the way for Belhaven with 12 kills, while teammate Chae Levy contributed another ten. Molly Boyer turned in a big night, compiling two aces, two solo blocks, and five block assists, but 18 assists and 14 digs helped Alyson Plyler to the biggest night of any Blazer.

The Blazers will take a break from SSAC play and travel across town to take on Tougaloo College on Wednesday evening. The match is set to begin at 7:00 pm.
