DALTON, Ga. – The Belhaven Volleyball team took on Dalton State in their first ever match at B. J. Bandy Gymnasium. The Blazers were swept by the Roadrunners in tightly contested sets by scores 25-19, 25-18, 25-23.
The Blazers fall to 8-8 overall and 1-4 in Southern States Athletic Conference play.
"It ultimately came down to effort and serve receive," said head coach
Justin Dee. "We just could not get the ball to our setter where she could run our offense."
Senior, Erika LeFlore and freshman
Blaykleigh Smythe were two of the standout Blazers on the night. LeFlore led Belhaven in kills with five on the night, while Smythe added four of her own and led all Blazers in hitting with a .500.
Freshman,
Kelly Aholt finished one assist shy of tying her career high with 18 on the night.
Sophomore,
Abbey Herman led all Blazers in digs with eight, followed by junior
Jackie Rhyne's six.
The Blazers will next travel to Gainsville, Ga. to take on Brenau University on tomorrow in SSAC play. The first serve is slated for 12PM.
