JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven volleyball team fell to Faulkner 3-0 in Southern States Athletic Conference play on Tuesday night. The Blazers drop to 8-7 overall and 1-4 in conference play.
The Blazers played tonight's match without sophomore,
Jackie Gunderson and freshmen
Amanda Cherry and
Ashley Rice.
"We didn't make the necessary adjustments to come out on top," said head coach
Justin Dee.
The Blazers seemed to be in control of the first set, as they held a 22-17 lead, but the Eagles fought back into the game and stole the first set 26-24.
Belhaven dropped sets two and three by scores 25-16 and 25-19 respectively.
"We dominated the first set tonight, but losing the lead set the tone for the rest of the match," said Dee.
Junior,
Taylor Hall led all Blazers in kills with nine on the night, while sophomore,
Chae Levy added six.
Senior, Aly Plyler paced the Blazers with 16 assists, while freshman,
Kelly Aholt added eight. Juniors
Jackie Rhyne and
Cassidy Fitzpatrick led Belhaven in digs with 17 and eight apiece. Freshman,
Blaykleigh Smythe led all Blazers in hitting, with a .286 on the night.
The Blazers will travel to Dalton, Georgia to take Dalton State College in SSAC play on Friday night. The first serve is set for 6PM.
